Gwendolyn O. – Head Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Gwendolyn is Licensed Veterinary Technician here at Northeastern Veterinary Care Center. She received her degree through SUNY Ulster and has been working with animals all her life. Originally from New York, she knew she wanted to work with animals during her early high school years. “I took a human anatomy and human biology class and realized half way through I was bored. I found myself thinking about how all of the information related to animals instead of people.” Even though we’ve only been open for a short while, she jumped at the opportunity to take in a stray kitten that was brought to us, and nurse it back to health. She just loves to help the ones who help us any way she can.

Kayla P. – Veterinary Technician

Kayla has been working in the field of Veterinary Medicine since 2008. Kayla actually worked alongside Dr. Beal a few years back at a previous practice, where she admired Dr. Beal’s compassion and competence when dealing with complex diagnoses of patients. She since moved west and lived in California working as a Veterinary Technician. She then moved to Oregon where she worked on a very large working cattle ranch as a cowgirl training young colts.  After several years on the west coast, Kayla chose to return home to Connecticut and saw there was an opening at NEVCC!  She was ecstatic to use her exceptional nursing skills and to be able to work again with Dr. Beal and her superb team.

Kayla has been a lifelong avid equestrian and is a dog mom to two adorable Shepard/Husky mixes Boston and Molle and now resides in Mystic, CT.

Abby I. – Veterinary Technician (CVT)

Abby recently graduated from MxCC’s Veterinary Technology program, passed her certification exam, and has become our newest certified Veterinary Technician! She has always had a passion for animals and science, and thus, she decided to pursue a career path that fused both. She has one sassy, 15-year-old cat named Ginger, whom she’s had since a wee kitten. She also previously had a cat named Beans, who, unfortunately, at the young age of 18 months, succumbed to a liver disease and joined kitty heaven. This further fueled her desire to pursue the veterinary field and aid animals any way she can!

Traci B. – Veterinary Receptionist

Traci grew up in a home where animals were considered members of the family. Her whole life she has surrounded herself with animals. In the past, Traci has worked with beluga whales and in the seal rescue clinic at Mystic Aquarium. She also has cared for horses at local stables. When Traci worked alongside Dr. Beal, a few years back, she was immediately taken by the compassion and dedication that she showed to all of her patients. Traci is grateful to be supporting this passionate veterinarian and friend once again. She feels that she could not find a better team to work with than the staff at NEVCC! In her free time, Traci is an avid equestrian and RYT 200 yoga teacher. She shares her home with two dogs, Carter and Stella as well as a blue eyed black cat named Pearl.

Nichole B. – Veterinary Receptionist

Nichole was born and raised in Southern RI and lived in North Carolina during her husband’s Army career until she and her family moved back to the area following his retirement.
Nichole is new to the veterinary field but was in the dental field for almost 20 years, and holds several dental certifications. She is also a certified Kickboxing trainer and Group Fitness/SPIN instructor and holds certifications in the Health & Wellness Industry as well.
In her spare time, Nichole enjoys being active, spending time with her friends and family, and being outdoors. She has 3 dogs and is an animal lover at heart!

Elisha M. – Veterinary Receptionist

Elisha has a huge passion for wildlife conservation, previously working for CT’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She graduated in 2019 from Eastern Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s in Environmental Earth Science. During college, she had many nature-oriented jobs while spending her free time volunteering for the CT Audubon Society’s rescue and rehab program for birds of prey. Elisha has a special place in her heart for wildlife photography, jumping in her kayak on nice days to get closer shots of animals in their natural habitats. Elisha has a large, 10-year-old, tom cat named Gus whose “natural habitat” is right on her lap.

Brooke W. – Exam Room Assistant

Brooke graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Endicott College in Massachusetts. While her original goal was to go into the field of human medicine, her heart kept bringing her back to animals. After completing three internships in different human health fields, she still felt like something was missing. She decided to apply for an internship at an animal hospital and immediately fell in love with the field of veterinary medicine. Brooke is now applying to veterinary school and hopes to have a career as a small animal veterinarian in the future. In her free time, you can find her running, hiking, and skiing, or just hanging out with her dogs: Lola, Zoe and Daisy, and her rabbit Leo.
